Abstract

Currently, the issue of increasing energy efficiency is acute. At the same time, one of the key sectors of the Russian economy is the electric power industry. At the moment, the Russian Federation is in 4th place in terms of production and consumption of electrical energy, yielding in these indicators only to China, the USA and India. In terms of production capacity in this industry, Russia, in addition to the above countries, is also inferior to Japan, thus being in 5th place. For these reasons, the electric power industry can be called vital for the economy of the Russian Federation and, therefore, there is an acute question about the need to ensure the efficiency of its functioning. Naturally, it is impossible to achieve the desired results without significant investments in fixed capital, since worn out, morally and physically obsolete fixed assets significantly increase energy consumption and, consequently, the cost of the final product. This paper examines the investment activities of Mosenergo PJSC, the largest of the territorial generating companies of the Russian Federation, and its impact on the energy efficiency of production activities.
