ANALYSIS OF THE RELEVANCE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF DIFFERENTIATION OF ECONOMIC GROWTH OF I.G. TYUNEN IN MODERN CONDITIONS
Abstract
The article examines the main provisions of the theory of differentiation of economic growth, developed and proposed by J.H. von Thunen. His ideas are fundamental to the classical understanding of the development of territories and productive forces, and are still used in the study of spatial development. The study of the most famous work of the scientist «The Isolated State in Its Relation to Agriculture and National Economy» made it possible to identify a number of principles and analyze them in terms of relevance in modern conditions of territorial development. The identified principles touch upon the issues of measuring the well-being of territories and the costs of their development, the features of the settlement of residents, the need to modify economic systems and take into account the relationship of manufactured goods with each other, taking into account geographical features. Aspects of organizing the territorial distribution of productive forces («Thunen belt») and the economist's attitude to the tax system are separately covered. The study demonstrates the viability of von Thunen 's ideas, which, when adapted, find application in modern regional planning, logistics, and land use assessment. Despite the simplifying assumptions of the model, its conceptual framework remains a valuable tool for understanding spatial economic processes. The presented analysis can be useful to researchers of territorial development, since it reveals and complements the relationship of the classical provisions of the theory of differentiation of economic growth with a description of their state in modern conditions.
